He, your family, have such dignity! I don’t know who took these photos. But the photos are brilliant because they captured this.
You are all remarkable.
The one of him as a child was taken by famous Harlem Renaissance photographer James Van Der Zee, the rest were probably taken by family members or his fellow Air Force buddies.
Bittersweet – and wonderful photos. WHAT were we thinking about some of our fashion choices – lol.
xx,
mgh
Yes the 1970s produced many polyester Queens and Kings!! LOL!!
And the hair! I wonder what the kids born today will think of our styles?

Many of the styles from the 70s have returned. However Afros are now Free Form instead of cut precise and shaped like mine and Dads, Earth Shoes are called Birkenstocks and ripped jeans, well they are just ripped jeans!! As the song lyrics go, Mini skirts, Maxi Skirts, Afro Hair dos…….. Eventually we will be back to bell bottoms Nehru jackets!! And as for the music many rappers and hip hop artists sample from the 1960s/70s R&B Soul musicians. LOL!! 🙂 😀 Everything old is new again!!
-hugs- Beautiful photos.
Thank you!
What a beautiful memoir! These bittersweet memories I’m sure will put a smile on your face and tug at your heart ❤️. What a wonderful person he was.. 👏🏻
Yes. For me and Stephen he was the Best Dad in the world. We both miss him very much. However one day we will all be reunited in Heaven! ❤
Ameen to that!! ❤️❤️
Praise God!! I’m sure the Holy Quran also discusses Paradise and keeping our focus on God as opposed to earthly greed. Here is a Bible Scripture where Jesus teaches.
Matthew 6:19-21
New King James Version (NKJV)
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Wow!! This is almost the same sentiment that Quran also has.. keeping our hearts focussed on God and spreading love among one another.
This is so beautiful, this just strongly reaffirms the fact that.. We all are just one big family 🤗🤗
Hugs! Now let’s go visit some of those wonderful restaurants that you feature in your blog to break bread, have some laughs and give Praise to God!! Yum! Yum! 🙂 😀 ❤
He was such a handsome and good looking man! And I can feel the love you all shared strongly! 💖💖
As the Old Gospel song says “Let the Circle Be Unbroken.” One day Stephen and I will be reunited with our parents in Heaven. No more troubles. No more struggles. No more sadness and pain. Only Laughter, Happiness and Joy. The older I get the more I look forward to leaving this earth, being in Paradise and being with my family members who have gone on before me. That is where my treasure lies.
It is poignant what you wrote here. Sad on one hand but beautiful because of the love you feel on the other hand. However, I understand you 💖

We are made in heaven, come from heavon, and therefore only what is heavenly can have persistence! But still we came here to take something along. Thank you for sharing this!
Happy to say I made my contribution so that’s why I’m ready to return to whence I came. Ready to experience that happiness and joy that awaits me. No more stress or chronic physical pain and insomnia. No more having to cope with encroaching disabilities. No more arthritis and painful joints. The vision in my left eye will return. I will be able to see! I will have healing. No more having to worry about being pushed or falling down steps/stairs. Freedom!! I’m prepared to see my family and meet Jesus! What a Joyful time that will be. Healthy Happy and Whole in Heaven!! ❤
If there is one thing I wish for this life then it is to have the opportunity to meet and embrace you, Deborah!!
As God wills. All is in His/Her hands.
💖💖
He looked so proud of you!! 🙂 ♡
Yes. He was.
