Share Your World – January 9, 2017

If you lost a bet and had to dye your hair a color of the rainbow for a week, what color would it be?

Well I already dye my hair. It is Manic Panic Vampire Red which I discussed in a previous post. Once I did try to dye my hair purple/violet but that did not work out. Electric Blue would be fun but I can only do this once I retire. My bosses would not be too thrilled to see me with some weird color shade!

If you could choose one word to focus on for 2017, what would it be?

Hope.

What was one thing you learned last year that you added to your life?

Lose the pride and ask for help. Actually this is an ongoing process that has been taking place for nearly ten years.  I’m not Wonder Woman or Super Woman and as I’ve gotten older there are things I can no longer do on my own. The Aging process changes everything.  One must learn to Accept and Adapt to their limitations.

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?

Pineapple. Hard on the outside. Soft on the inside.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

The Meeting at Stephen’s residence went better than expected. Spoke in person with the Director of the Group Home. Also went to Stephen’s room and went through his things. He does have plenty of clothes. In fact he could open up his own store!!  I think we have ironed out certain issues and my plan is to move forward in 2017.

Next Sunday, Jan 15th I look forward to getting together with my Japanese friend and attending services at her Buddhist Temple.  I took that day off and I hope and pray that it does not snow!!

  1. I am glad that the meeting went well this week. I know it was a hurdle for you. I hear your answer to the 3rd question. I’m not good at asking for help either. 😀

  2. Fuschia would be my choice (a bright hot pink with some bass notes – one of my favorite colors anyway). If I were forced to do so, I’d also finally bite the bullet and get a VERY short cut, after long, shoulder or chin-length my entire life – practically a buzz cut. No guts to do either right now, but you’ve got me thinking about it!

    1. For me it’s an evolution of transformation. I started getting Tattoos plus an extra piercing my 40s. Began coloring my hair in my 50s. Who knows what I’ll start doing when I hit 60 in 2019!
      LOL!

  3. I was thinking of doing this one. Last night I was just thinking about what my answers might be. I chose the same colour hair as you – blue and the pineapple – for the same reason as you.

  4. Adore your hair color and glad to hear the meeting went well. I Hope for all the best for you and Stephen in 2017. And your words made an impact on me: “One must accept and adapt to their limitations” I need to consider this at this stage

  5. You have been on my mind ever since you posted the accident you had on the train
I hope you are doing as well as can be expected
I know what trauma can do to a person
And how panic and fear can rearrange your life
    Prayers and blessings
    To you
You know where to find me
    As always sheldon

    1. Thanks. I do my best because I still must use the subways to get to work and other appointments. Sooner or later I’m gonna have to get back onto the L train and deal with my emotions. Certain things you can’t get around. Basically unless you drive which I don’t you must use the subway system.

  6. I love your hair colour, going short-short is very liberating! My hair is very short, buzzing off my hair is something I am tempted to do every summer when it’s 100 degrees outside! It’s only hair, it will grow back!! Asking for help is something us women don’t do easily, perhaps because we fear being judged, appearing weak (in our own minds). January is Mental Health month here in Canada, January 25th is “Let’s Talk” day, to raise awareness to talk, ask for help, reach out, talking about feelings & fears, we all have, share, saving lives.

    1. Thanks! My hair color is Vampire Red made by Manic Panic. It is Vegan Hair Color which means it does a great job without that awful chemical smell! I never cut my hair too short because that would mean the grays would grow in faster! We can’t have that now can we?!! 🙂 😀

As far as mental health issues go I really wish that the City and State of New York would do something about the huge and ever expanding Mentally Ill Homeless who live in the Subways including the trains and the platforms. Obviously these people who live in their own filth and are having delusions pose not only a hazard to themselves but also other passengers/travelers. Also my heart is broken by the many homeless people living on the streets inside cardboard boxes or sleeping in doorways. The United States has the money to treat and house these unfortunate people. They need shelter and support services.

Yes I’ve had my battles with nervous exhaustion & depression plus in 2015 I was hospitalized for anxiety, panic attacks and depression but nor am I wandering the streets soiled, filthy, and dirty with no place to go. I’m fortunate to have a Union Job so my workplace could not fire me while I was in the hospital but surely all these people in the streets and subways begging for money and acting out need way more help than me.
