The Black Panther Movie Review

The Black Panther Movie was Great, Excellent, Fabulous and Fantastic!! Brilliant! It was wonderful to see Africans as Heroes and Heroines!  Black People in Charge!  We are the Heroic Voice with the story told from a Black viewpoint!

Reigning and ruling in a Civilization more technological advanced than any European one! Africans! Black People! With power and authority! Rulers! Kings and Queens!

Unlike the lies that Europeans and white Americans have fed Blacks across the Diaspora for years that we were heathens, savages, and in need of their Euro-Centric Christianity. Africans had their own advanced systems, cities, kingdoms and faith based systems that suited us. Praise to the Ancestors!

Not to say that the story is one sided because there are enemies from within as well as from outside.

Yes there were white people in the audience but certain dialogues and situations resonated more with Black people. Without giving any too much one scene where a white American asks a stupid question and the Sister responds Yes Colonizer.

(Yes Europeans invaded Africa stole our resources, land and people in the name of Christianity) with a knowing smile on her face. Or when the white guy touches the King and the Black Female Warrior says that if he touches you one more time that she will Spear him to the table. That resonates with me because some white people have a bad habit or unauthorized touching. Slavery is gone and no we are not your pets! So keep your hands to yourself. Personally I hate being touched and have had to stop myself from punching touchy feeling white folks in the face.

TRUTH!!

Plus the movie has Dark Skinned Black Women as Warriors and Kingdom Guardians! Those Dark Skin SiStars Kick Ass!!

At the end of the film every Black Person in the audience Stood up and Cheered! Now that’s a Powerful movie! Outstanding! I highly recommend that every Black Person see this movie!

UNASHAMEDLY AND UNAPOLOGETICALLY BLACK & PROUD!

BLACK POWER!

Red Nose Movie Weekend

Today’s Funny Story!

Stephen and I went to the 12:10 showing of X-Men Apocalypse at the Jamaica Multiplex theater located in Jamaica, Queens, New York.
We got into the movie for only $20 bucks.
Me as a Senior and Stephen as my child!!
All by showing my AARP card! LOL!!
Let’s see now! Stephen just turned 55 earlier this month and I turned 57 back in February. Hmmm… That means I was two years old when I had my brother!!  Ha!! Ha!!

X-Men Apocalypse Movie Review

This was a great movie. Initially the movie starts out in Egypt and even though you do see some Black or Brown skinned actors playing those roles it would have made me happier to see more people of color especially Black Women.  In 3600 B.C.E. I thought there would have been any white people in Egypt. Directors and Producers need to acknowledge that Egypt is located in and part of Africa and Nubians ruled Ancient Egypt.
The directors take the audience back in time to explain some of the X-Men Mutant origins.  All the cast are newer and younger actors (20 somethings) except Wolverine who is played by the same actor as in the previous movies but only has a small short role in this film.  The movie also tells how the character Storm evolved from a petty thief who was initially on the dark side and how she discovered the truth transferring her allegiance to the good guys.
Without giving any spoilers a Woman mutant defeats the evil being and saves humanity. Excellent story-line and plot.  Plenty of action.

Captain America | Civil War

Yesterday Stephen and I went to see Captain America | Civil War. Another enjoyable action filled movie. Stephen really enjoyed this movie and my personal favorite character is the Black Panther. Love him!! Next year Black Panther is supposed to get his own feature film I would really Love to see his role expanded. In fact I’d Love to see any Black Super Hero Male or Female role’s expanded and pushed to the forefront since one sees very few African or African-American Super-Heroes and even if you do see them they always see to be the loyal buddy or side kick to the white super hero. Time for Super Heroes of African Descent to Rise to the Top where we Belong!!
Stephen and I both highly recommend both movies.

“…I love dressing up in superhero outfits and in fact, when I dress up as Wonder Woman, I actually think that I’m more powerful…”

—Olivia Munn

Real or made up. A super hero can be anybody. The lady next door who devotes her time to the needy, our soldiers across the seas or like our heroes growing up we can write about Batman or Wonder Woman. A super hero can take many forms. Lets write about them this week!

Every Halloween my brother Stephen and I become Super Heroes. Halloween is my favorite holiday because you can not only dress in costume but it’s okay to walk around the city in that costume with your new though temporary Identity. For a long time I went with a feline theme thus I was Cat Woman channeling Eartha Kitt for several Halloweens.  As you can see I greatly enjoyed my Cat Woman and Tigeress Avatars!  Stephen won Best Costume in 2011 for his Scarecrow Costume!!  in 2013/2014 Stephen was a Sailor aka like the kid on the Cracker Jack box for those of you old enough to remember the caramel popcorn with the toy surprise. Obviously for those of you living on the East Coast of the United States Hurricane Sandy put the kibosh on Halloween that year. Some photos were taken at Stephen’s training center AABR in Jamaica, Queens, New York.

This past summer Stephen with his Group Home residence had visited The New York Renaissance Faire located in Tuxedo, New York. So together we decided on variations of a Renaissance Theme. I re-imagined Diana the Huntress as DeBorah the Huntress, a combination of the Hunger Games and the Goddess Diana. So I become the Goddess DeBorah acting out my incarnation as Huntress Protector of the Forest.  Stephen transformed from a Sailor into the Black Robin Hood! This is what ensued.
