Share Your World – April 17, 2017

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

Probably pencil since it has an eraser but due to past carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis my handwriting is illegible. My handwriting could be the but of those doctor handwriting jokes. Back when doctors used to write paper prescriptions. In New York doctors usually no longer write paper prescriptions as per a New York State Law requiring all prescriptions to be submitted directly to the patients pharmacy via computer.

Would you rather be an amazing dancer or an amazing singer?

Dancer. I admire the Nicholas Brothers, Gregory Hines and Savion Glover.

If you were on a debate team, what subject would you relish debating?

That’s a difficult question to answer. I used to be good at public speaking because it was a requirement of my previous job. Now you could not get me up on a podium unless you paid me $1 Million dollars. Nerves, anxiety and panic attacks would have me running off the stage, then again that would make a good topic, “Why I suck at public speaking.”

The only other subject I could discuss without appearing to be a complete idiot or fool would be on the subject of Autism, my relationship with my brother Stephen and Why Adult Siblings of Autistic Adults Matter.  Autism programs, services and organizations only cater to parents and once the parents are deceased and the individual with Autism is an Adult you are forgotten as well as the needs of Adult Siblings which are not addressed.  There is a serious Lack of Support Services for Adult Siblings trying to take of their developmentally disabled siblings.  My Life is a constant Struggle.

What are you a “natural” at doing?

Writing and photography.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Warm weather. Looking forward to my vacation next month and summer.

Gratitude and Thankfulness

I’m so Grateful and Thankful for the Following:

Spring has finally come to New York City this week.  The temps are hovering from the upper 60s to the upper 70 degree range.

My itchy scratchy skin rash is gone!! Hallelujah!!

My brother Stephen’s eye infection healed and he went back to program last Monday.

Always Thankful for my brother Stephen who is the Most Awesome Amazing Autism Guy in the World!!

My cat Sylvester.

For the Daily Press which is a Coffee Bar that opened up end of Feb/early March. They have a friendly staff and their Mint Tea is delicious as are their blueberry muffins and chocolate croissants!!

For the Friendly Staff at the Reviv Wellness clinic when I get my B 12 and CoQ10 Vitamin shots.

Both the staff at the Daily Press and Reviv Wellness Clinic always ask about my brother Stephen even though they have only met him once. Always happy to find Autism Friendly places. Of course Stephen has such a Winning Personality what’s not to Like?!! ❤

Especially Thankful and Grateful for being able to attend Palm Sunday Worship Service. Not only did I enjoy myself, I took notes and came away inspired and uplifted.

Giving Thanks to God for my Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim Sister-Friends who have stuck with me through thick and thin. God’s Love Manifests itself in all faiths and belief systems.  I am grateful for these Wonderful Women and the opportunity to see God in others.

Sending my prayers and condolences to my Coptic Sisters and Brothers in Egypt who died or were injured this past Palm Sunday. Some of my co-workers are Egyptians of the Coptic faith. Keep in mind that the terrorist extremist evil-doers who committed this terrible sin DO NOT represent Islam no more than the KKK or the American Nazi Party represents Christianity.

Pause Down Memory Lane

Pause

Snapshots are pauses in times. Happier times.  Better times. When I was younger, healthier and with less worries.  The present is composed mostly of tears, stress and wishes to return to better times. Maybe the fluctuation in emotions is due to that other Pause in Women’s Lives MenoPause or it is the frustrations and struggles of daily life.  The increase in responsibilities as you get older with the burden I’m carrying growing heavier with each year while my body grows weaker with age and disease.

Photos take you back down Memory Lane.

Part III: People, Places & Things

If you want to share a literal image of the actual word, do that. But if you’d rather play with word association, post something that reminds you of the specific word, or something you use the word for, do so. It only has to make sense to you. Have fun and keep on photographing!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all my Irish Friends and Buddies.  According to the DNA testing company 23andMe my brother Stephen and I have a small Irish Ancestry Claim.

Please keep in mind that ancestry is only traced from your mother’s side as only Women carry Mitochondrial DNA which is passed from Mother to child.  In order for me to get information on my Dad’s side one of my paternal cousins would have to take the DNA test.

When I was younger and especially when I was a kid I would get stopped on the street all the time by total strangers asking me if I was Native American. Got the same question from a Korean Sister who was giving me a facial. Obviously the African and Native American genes stand out more than anything else. Or at least to friends and neighbors.

Here is the 411 on our family genetics:
