U.S. Army Veteran (Me) seeking studio or 1 bedroom in Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn. Must be cat friendly, close to (walking distance) to the subway & safe neighborhood. Less than $800 a month rent!! Including gas and electric. Will be ready to move in September or October this year.
Sure I could work hours and hours plus tons overtime in a back breaking attempt to pay a rent that will be close to $1000 by November 2016 or I can ask for help and believe God to send me a clean safe place for me and Sylvester. Someplace that I can bring my brother Stephen.
Stephen is most important factor. If all my money goes to pay rent not counting gas, electric, food & transportation how will I find the time or funds to care for Stephen? This is not acceptable so I’m sending out this appeal and Please Feel Free to Share to all your networks.
What is your favorite piece of art? (it doesn’t have to be famous)
I work in a museum so it’s difficult to say which artwork is my favorite but I Love Paintings! Paintings tell a story even still lifes. A close second are sculptures.
However for the sake of choice here is a photo of a Kehinde Wiley painting from the Brooklyn Museum. As you can see my brother Stephen is imitating the pose. Yes I put him up to this! LOL!!

be able to eat ice cream and drink sodas, laying down put my legs and feet behind my head and stay like that until my Mom told me to stop being a pretzel and come to dinner, party all night and still come to work on time the next day. Now I cannot do any of those things.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
Went with my Japanese girlfriend to her Buddhist Temple which gives me peace, centers me and reminds me not to give into anger! I try to attend on a regular basis and even became a member in 2012. Beliefs very similar to Christianity and the Bible. Thank you Shinnyo-en Buddhism!

I’ll revise the writing prompt to Eating out with Dad. My Mom Mable Elizabeth Palmer cooked so we rarely ate out. Too expensive. My earliest memories of eating out with my Dad Edward G. Palmer was our weekend forays into the city (Manhattan) I grew up in St. Albans, Queens, New York. Daddy took me to a restaurant called the Automat, where you’d put your money usually a quarter into these vending machines and get yourself sandwiches, desserts, snacks, drinks etc… I remember if one of us having to watch the table if the other got up because if you left your food unattended either the Automat workers would take it or the homeless. I just loved those vending machines and making my selection.
Here is more information on this old-time New York eating tradition.
