Night Court
As some of you may already know I work the night shift as a Museum Security Guard. Even though there are no visitors after hours my workplace has security staff 24/7/365.
Evening/Night Shifts attract an interesting group of people. The dynamic at my museum workplace brought to mind that old TV Comedy show Night Court which aired from 1984 to 1992. Degrees of weirdness that you can only experience after dark. There is a lot of truth to the Whodini song “The Freaks come out at Night.”
I am the only Woman Security Officer on the Shift.
- The Nosy Parker
- The Didactic Historian expert on every political and social event that has happened since mankind came out of the caves.
- The Whiner/Complainer Elitist as in I should be in a better paying more glamorous job
- The Guy who thinks he is Super Guard and constantly brings up his past military service and officer training aka Mr. Know-It-All
- The Lost Cause aka Mr. Timid.
Then there are several co-workers who serve as comic relief. I suppose I fall into this category as sometimes I feel like the Narrator to a Drama/Comedy.

For those of your not fortunate enough to remember or had the opportunity to see Night Court here are a few short clips from this hilarious TV show.
I loved that show–John Laroquette was a riot! Thanks, DeBorah.
Thanks! Yes it was one of the funniest TV shows from the 1980s. Now I feel like it is being reenacted on my job!! What a cast of characters!! LOL!!
Of course I remember that song. I love the art pieces 😊
Last night as my shift ended I noticed the similarity of my co-workers with the cast of Night Court! Gave myself some chuckle and laugh time. I think I’m in the middle of a Museum Sitcom TV show!! LOL!! 🙂 😀
Oh Yes the skulls. Saw these in a store window one day while I was walking down the street.
I hadn’t heard the song before, but I like it! It’s funny, and now I will be singing that phrase to myself for awhile. … Night court was always a good show, and the skull art…yes! 🙂
Thanks. Some of the best music videos were from the 19 80s & 1990s
I Love Skull art. I have two skull tattoos on my legs.
Oh, I know! Music videos were the best back then, and the songs were good! We watched MTV all the time, and even VH1. Cool you have skull tattoos! Maybe I should get one, I like them so much. I have 3 tattoos already, but not a skull one! 🙂
Thanks. I have about nine or ten Tattoos. Always planning to get more but tattoos can be costly.
