What do you value most in a friendship?

Here goes Y’All!! You knew this was coming!!

Billy Joel – Honesty

Do you prefer eating the frosting of the cake or the cupcake first?  Do you prefer a specific flavor?

Chocolate cupcakes minus the frosting. I loathe frosting! Ugh! Way too sweet! Like eating a mouthful of flavored sugar! Yuck! Besides the fact that I’m pre-diabetic I should not be eating any type of sweets especially cupcakes or regular cakes. However sometimes for special occasions I do indulge.

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

No. Not sure. Hmmm…. Enclosed space that you can’t open the door and get out of??? I cannot swim. Maybe not… I could see myself suffocating then drowning….  No thanks!!

I have been inside a C-130 but then again I was only 18 or 19 an adventurous private in the Army. My last post before I ETS’d was the 101st Airborne Div. Ft. Campbell, KY but I was Chairborne not Airborne!! I was a 75 Delta which was at that time called a Personnel Records Specialist. I’m sure computers do that type of work now.

I’ve also been in an Army Helicopter which turned out to be a hair raising experience when the pilot decided he was gonna see how close he could come to the German mountains without crashing into one!! I threw up!!

C130 Rolling Down The Strip – Military Running Cadence

No. I cannot run anymore. Age has caught up with me but I could easily run over 8 miles a day back then!!

If 100 people your age were chosen at random, how many do you think you’d find leading a more satisfying life than yours?

Maybe 50 of them since my life is pretty boring. You would have to define Satisfying. Everyone would have their own definition of Satisfy. At this point I’m content but my life could be better.

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

A good start with my new work position. As for next week nothing specific. I don’t really celebrate Christmas but I need to pick up a few more gifts for Stephen. We will spend Dec. 22nd to Dec. 24th together because I must work Christmas Day. The good part is that it’s extra pay for Christmas Day. Easy money.

    1. Funny now but not then!! I was stationed in Augsburg, Germany and I was on a TDY mission to somewhere else in Germany I don’t remember after nearly 40 years but those U.S. Army copter pilots think they are daredevils. The Officers accompanying me on the trip had pity on me and gave me a barf bag and told the pilot to stop stunt piloting!! 🙂

  1. Oh I so enjoyed reading, listening and watching your post. In fact Billy Joel is still singing in the back ground. I would love to go on a helicopter ride someday. Although maybe not the one you were on. 😀

  2. I loved Sesame Street! Watched it every day when I got home from school, from K-12, LOL! Had Bert, Ernie, and Cookie Monster puppets – I’d still have them if my ‘Mommie Dearest’ hadn’t gotten rid of them!

Great song selections you have here – here’s my favourite Sesame Street song:

I liked it because I could relate…I was the only Black kid in my school, so I stood out like a sore thumb.

    1. Yes. I can see why you chose that song. I was 10 when Sesame Street came out so I already knew how to read, write, spell and count but I enjoyed that show very much. I can still sing some of the songs by heart today! I did have a Kermit stuffed doll my Dad gave me but after moving around who knows what happened Kermie. Maybe Miss Piggy came along and frognapped him!

Another favorite was the Electric Company.

      1. I learned to read when I was two, so already knew that stuff when we finally got a television in the house. The shows I liked were Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, the Electric Company, and ZOOM! – all in that order, LOL

I’d watch them all the minute I got home from school – it was the only way to see human diversity.
        🙂

      2. I enjoyed all those shows except Mr. Rogers who bored me silly. I like the parody Eddie Murphy did on him years later. I also loathed Captain Kangaroo. Way too corny. I Loved Soupy Sales as well as Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop.

      3. I’m younger than you, so I guess that explains the difference in the shows that we liked.
I didn’t like Captain Kangaroo, either. Mr. Rogers was a soothing voice for me, since I grew up in an abusive household. You’re fortunate that you had parents who loved you. I didn’t.

      4. I try to learn how to love myself, just a little bit, every day, without relying on social media or the phony compliments of others. Self-reliance is all I know – it helped me survive.

      5. It’s a process and often it is that way for anyone who has suffered any type of abuse but an especially difficult path for children as they march into adulthood. Blessings.

  3. Just got through listening to the 101st Airborne cadence call, plus a couple more that came after. My husband was singing them along with the videos. He was with the 101st for awhile, before going to Vietnam back in 1970.
