Complete this sentence: I want to learn more about …

On a vacation what you would require in any place that you sleep?

A Clean Queen Size bed that is firm for my bad back. Pillows. Lots of them. The reason I added the word clean is that you’d be surprised at how many hotels/motels do not wash or change the sheets and comforters after guests leave!

What is your greatest extravagance?

Not a whole lot as I live paycheck to paycheck but getting a pedicure which is needed since my job requires standing and walking. My feet hurt after a long day at work. I would add my Vitamin treatments which I can’t really afford anymore. Those Vitamin infusions really helped me and I wish I had the money to invest in myself. A badly needed physical however the co-pay has gone up beyond my resources. Unfortunately Self-care has become an extravagance which I can barely afford so I tend to neglect my well-being. I’ve learned to ignore pain, push through it and keep it moving.

Spending more time with my brother Stephen. If I had my ‘Druthers’ as the comic Lil Abner used to say I’d spend more time with Stephen. It is not fun having to work weekends and holidays and I feel guilty for all the holidays I’ve missed spending with Stephen. That’s one reason I don’t look forward to those year end holidays because I know I’ll be at work. In the last nine years maybe I’ve spent perhaps 1 at the most 2 Christmas with Stephen. I’m not big on Christmas but it does mean something to him so I wish that I could be with Stephen on those “Family Holidays.”  Maybe once I turned 62 and my life turns around those future dreams might come true. However those dreams are years away so I deal with the here and now.  I am grateful and Thankful to have a job but you give up all your family and Me time just to survive and make ends meet.

Would you want $200,000 right now or $250,000 in a year? It’s safe to assume all money is tax free.

$200,000 right now! As we all know Tomorrow is not promised to you. I might not be alive a year from now so I want all my money Now! I really need that money for my healthcare which has gone by the wayside. Plus think of all the fun stuff and good times that Stephen and I could have if I had $200,000!!

Is it more important to love or be loved?

Both

List things that represent abundance to you.

Health. Once you start to lose your health you begin to lose everything.  Truly I wish I had my 20 year old body but with my 58 year old mature mind. I miss out on so many events because of chronic pain, stomach issues, and all the other health challenges that come with aging. I’d give almost anything to go back to the healthy functioning body I had as a young woman.

Spending time with my brother Stephen.

What inspired you this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

My Left Foot

My Left Foot

(No this is not a review or commentary on the Daniel Day Lewis movie of a few years ago)

My Left foot has been giving me pain for the last two weeks. Throbbing achy pain that had me limping by the end of my work day. The pain was so intense that I actually had to call out sick for two days. I’m very Grateful and Thankful for Advil PM.

Finally today I decided to get a pedicure. Soaking my feet in the warm water and getting them massaged helped a great deal. It is the instep and heel that hurt the most. Soothing warm waters. Ahh………

Also Treated myself to Eye brow and Lip wax so I don’t look like the artist Frida Kahlo! LOL!  The Uni-brow is not a good look on me! LOL!!

My Manic Panic Fuschia Shock Hair Color went over so well at work that I will keep this color for a while.

Will return to my job on Sunday. Ready and Prepared.

EAT, SLEEP, PRAY, SHOWER, WORK, REPEAT……..

The New Paradigm

Every day that the weather is clear and good I will be at work. Only making an exception for a very close friend’s Birthday Celebration September 23rd and Of course for spending time with Stephen on Halloween.

It is more than clearing up debts and bills it is vital to just basic survival. My room-mate spoke with the Landlord and our rent will not go up for 2017 but wait until 2018 then a big increase. The transit fares go up, food costs go up therefore I cannot deviate from the plan. Unless you are part of the rich, wealthy elite this is the new life style. I must and will follow the plan until I can retire.

Laziness and taking time off equals poverty.  She/he who does not work shall not eat. Many of my immigrant co-workers work Seven Yes 7 days a week otherwise you cannot afford to live in New York City. Now if I had a job making even $60,000 per year sure I could live a life of leisure but until my income increases I will be doing the six day thing for several months.  I feel like a drone worker bee robot who is an ATM for bill collectors.

Like the Born I’ve been assimilated into the collective.

Stephen Vincent Palmer ~ Testimony & Praise Report

STEPHEN PALMER ~ Praise Report

As some of you may know my brother Stephen Palmer is developmentally disabled but he does not let that stop him from enjoying life. Autism? What autism? He works and has a full social calendar. I should be so lucky!! LOL!

Stephen received an excellent report from his teachers and instructors at AABR. Stephen has 20/20 vision. No diabetes. His high blood pressure and cholesterol are under control. At age 52 he is in perfect health. Stephen always enjoys expressing himself through art. He likes to draw so I will get him some art supplies.

He uses his stipend to romance 2 ladies, Maxine and Robin. Robin is his dance partner at QCP Friday night social. They probably spend lots of time dancing to Michael Jackson who is Stephen’s favorite singer/entertainer. Stephen also likes to but Cologne and sunglasses. He’s living la vida loca!

Even with some cognitive difficulties Stephen is able to make his needs known, perform janitorial work at various locations, enjoys a fitness program that includes walking the treadmill, lifting weights, swimming and learning to play soccer.

To make himself understood he uses his own form of sign language. Obviously it works for him and Maxine and Robin are happy to enjoy Stephen’s company. LOL!! My brother the Ladies Man!!

To all the doctors who back in 1963 told our parents Edward & Mable Palmer that Stephen at only age two was hopeless and would not be able to learn or improve, to just put him away in an institution, God is laughing at you now!! Praise God that my parents did not listen to the doctors negative reports but took Stephen home and raised him in a normal, happy, loving home environment. Stephen has surpassed all expectations and I’m sure our parents are smiling down from Heaven at his amazing progress.  To all parents and siblings of special needs children ~ BELIEVE!  Believe in God, yourself and most of all your child’s ability to overcome any disability and go beyond any medical diagnosis!!
