Share Your World – March 12, 2018

If a distant uncle dies and you were always his favorite and leaves you $50,000 (any currency) in his will, what would you do?

Immediately put in for Retirement then Stephen and I would take a nice vacation to the Caribbean.  I would donate $2,000 each to both Stephen’s Group Home Residence ~~ QCP and his Day Treatment Center ~~ AABR. I would move forward with establishing AweSome AweTism Adventures featuring Stephen in videos all around New York City and maybe upstate New York.

I would definitely make a $2,000 donation to the Shinnyo-en Buddhist Temple. I’d also be able to volunteer more and just spend more time in a peaceful environment because I’d be a Retired Lady of Leisure!

Find a better place to live because my housing situation is up in the air. No more back to back Double Shifts to survive. Just think I would not have to worry about paying my rent!

Buy a better laptop computer because this one will probably die soon just like what happened to me last year!

Have my own art show. Featuring my photography and Mixed Media Photo Collages. I’m building up lots of canvases but of course no money to rent a place for an art show.  If money was no object I would rent out a really nice gallery, cater in great food and even have some live Jazz music.  Imagine if I had the money my pipe dreams would come true.

I’d also have a Special Photography Art Show for my Dad Edward G. Palmer.  He never got his due when he was alive and I’d do it as a Tribute to a Great Dad and a Great Man. My Dad was a gifted and talented man. I’d find a reliable person to convert those old Kodak Koda Chrome slides from the 1950s to the 1980s to Digital.

I would start doing more self care things for myself like massages, doctor visits, trips to Hawaii, Georgia, Florida & California, spending time at Spas, getting my hair and nails done. Being able to afford to take care of myself would be a Miracle. Now I cancel Doctor’s Appointments because I can’t afford the co-pay. I ignore pains and other health issues. Rest and Relaxation. Mainly All the things that I cannot afford to do now.

What sound or sounds do you love?

Sounds of nature.  The sound of the tinkling bell at the Shinnyo-en Buddhist Temple.  When that is gently rung that signals Chanting.  Mostly the Sound of Silence. I’m mostly a Loner and a Solitary.  Anytime I must socialize I have panic attacks before the event.

What’s your middle name?  Why?

Ann.  Because that’s what my Mother decided. Pretty much All my Baby Boomer female cousins on my Mom’s side have the middle name Ann.

What did you or did not like about the first place you lived without your parents?

The Army Barracks at Ft. Jackson, SC.  Those buildings looked like they were left over from World War II.  Can’t say I either liked or didn’t like them.  It was the place I did Basic Training and AIT.  It was my first time being away from my parents from any length of time and I was excited, scared and happy all at the same time. Heck I was a teenager.  I suppose you could compare it to a college dorm.  You make friends and you deal with some women as the we used to say back in the day, Weren’t wrapped too tight.”

What is your most favorite smell/scent?

Food in general

Flowers specifically Roses.  My mother’s favorite flower and mine.

Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?

I hate snow and I hate winter.  There is nothing fun or romantic about ice and snow unless you like falling and injuring yourself. Snow is nasty, messy, cold freezing punishment that gets more and more difficult to navigate the older I get.

Also since January a whole hank of my hair has come out from my scalp thanks to winter rashes and infections.  My skin cracks, peels, and my entire body feels like someone threw acid on me and lit me on fire. I’ve had to stopped taking selfies because my hair is coming out.

Plus I don’t see well and have balance issues so snow is just an opportunity for me to slip and fall. Subway stairs with ice and snow are an invitation to cracking my head wide open. I wish that I lived in Hawaii.

Some canvasses I’ve been working on.  Right now I’m calling them the Starry Night Constellations series.  Darkness is something I can relate to for good and for bad. My emotions have been all over the place and as always I’m forever on an emotional roller-coaster.

I work at night so I darkness is normal for me.  I both Love Darkness and Fear what lies in wait for me. Midnight is my reality I have had chronic insomnia for years so even when I worked days I was often up all night, in many ways Darkness is my friend from inside to outside. Fog, Mist, Darkness and Silence are concepts that are an integral part of my being.  Being a Loner and Solitary I do enjoy the Silence of the Night.  One of my goals is to go or be somewhere that I don’t have to interact with people.

How do you like your eggs?

Either scrambled or hard boiled

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Yes.  I live and work in New York.  I work for museums located on the Upper East Side where many of the rich and famous live.  Even before I started working for the museum I’ve seen Tony Randall, Woody Allen, Shaquille O’Neil, Ossie Davis and Anthony Quinn.  Meeting famous people is a common occurrence and No I am not impressed with them.  The TV and Movies Stars are often not very nice individuals.  Money tends to corrupt people.

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?

Probably clothing or books. It was such a long time ago. Whatever it was it’s long gone.

What would be your ideal fantasy way to spend Monday?

Sleep and work on my Artwork

What one person that you are out of contact with would you like to say thank you to?

My Maternal Grandmother Eva Sophronia Gordon Palmer.  She died when I was a little girl and I did not get to know her very well.  My memories of her are faint. My Older cousins have told me what a wonderful person she was.  I miss her.

If you had an unlimited shopping spree at only one store, which one would you choose? Why?

I was gonna say Macy’s or Bloomingdale’s but then I’d have to tote all that stuff home so I will say Amazon.com.  They deliver. You can space out the deliveries and basically they have everything one could desire.

What is the worst thing you ate recently?

Well I try to stay away from food that upsets my stomach which would include fast food so I leave Mickey D’s, Popeyes and all those other greasy food joints alone.  I’m trying to get back into eating healthy or at least less of the bad stuff

Name five things you like watching…

The ocean waves ebb and flow along the beach.

Waves along any body of water

The Night Sky.  When I was a kid I Loved being outside in the summer observing the stars and making wishes

Sunsets

People watching at the Park especially Central Park or at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Artists at work.  The Main Bldg where I used to work has a Copyist program. Copyists are Art Students and/or Professional Artists who come to copy the Old Masters Paintings.  Fascinating.  I’ve had the opportunity to see artists from all over the world. Even made friends with a few. Incredible talents and gifts.

Subway Artists & Musicians and Street Performers.

Nature. Animals. Birds flying, Butterflies, cats, dogs mostly my crazy cat Sylvester.

Parades ~~  New York City has parades for every ethnic group in the city.  I’ve seen the St. Patrick’s Day, African-American, Puerto Rican and Steuben Day Parades.

Notice I did not say TV because I do not own a TV. Gave it up years ago.  Now I do watch Forensic Science, Mysteries, History shows and of course Hair videos on YouTube and movies on Netflix.
