Dating and Cigarettes for me is a non-negotiable. If you’re a smoker don’t even look my way. Bad breath. Yellow teeth. Stinky hair and clothing. Ugh!
I hate cigarette smoke as it aggravates my allergies. Many years ago when I used to go out to clubs and bars (Ladies Night Out) I’d always have to wash my hair and shower when I got home because my hair and clothing reeked of cigarette smoke! Yuck!! Ugh!!
New York City has banned smoking in most bars, restaurants, clubs, cultural institutions, etc…. but you still must negotiate city streets populated by dedicated smokers who must light up despite knowing that smoking will eventually kill them.
Unfortunately a day at the park can be easily ruined once a smoker sits in your vicinity and decides to light up. Then you have to get up and move because your air space is being violated!
On one note I do think it is an addiction because my Dad started smoking when he was 17, quit at age 50 but still died at age 65 (stroke & cancer). That was back in 1995 when he passed away. Now the price of a pack of ciggies is sky high. I believe almost $20 per pack but loyal smokers don’t allow the high cost to deter them. In my low-income neighborhood you can get “loosies.” Or buy them in bulk from Indian reservations.
As for me I stay as far away as possible from smokers as is humanly possible. I don’t date guys who smoke either because they are like walking foul ash trays. Plus I don’t want to be any man’s nurse. I’m not about to be pushing your around in a wheelchair or watch you gasping for air from an oxygen tank all because you refuse to take care of yourself. If you’re overweight, out of shape, smoke or drink Go Look for a Nurse/Undertaker because you will surely need one in the few years you’ve got left on the planet.
I would rather take pictures than be in them. As I get older I have begun to lose fascination with my own image that I see in the Selfie obsessed Millennials. When I was a teenager back in the 70s my girlfriend and I would spend hours taking funny face photos in the Woolworth’s photo booths. If I remember correctly one could get four pictures for a quarter. Or was it a dollar? Now I avoid mirrors and cameras unless I’m at a special event of some sort.
Where do you like to vacation?
I prefer the seaside, the beach anywhere near the ocean if I get the chance. However I usually wind up taking Staycations within New York City but maybe in my next scheduled September and October vacations I can get out to Coney Island or Jones Beach.
If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?
List at least five favorite first names.
Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful that I was able to attend two farewell functions for two young co-workers who are moving onto bigger and better things. Looking forward this week to continuing with my health diet and improving my over all well-being.
My Favorite Season is Summer! I Love Heat, Sunshine, Warmth. Must be my African blood. I wish New York’s climate was more like California, Hawaii or Florida. Summer gives me the opportunity to wear dresses and skirts. I tend to get out more because the weather is good during the summer. Going to the park, the beach, just being able to soak in the sun’s rays is my ideal dream. I Love seeing the trees and flowers in bloom, walking through the grass and enjoying nature.
My least favorite season is winter. I HATE cold, ice, snow, & freezing temps. Ugh!! Housebound. Hibernating (NOT!!) Traveling in snow and ice is dangerous. Fear of falling and breaking my limbs. Transportation can be iffy and who wants to stand outside in the snow, sleet and/or ice waiting for a bus or train?! Yuck!! Having to spend 20 minutes putting on 5 layers of clothing is not sexy!! Neither is not seeing that black ice hiding under the snow and taking a tumble. Nor is getting unwanted exercise shoveling snow and putting down deicer just so you can get out of the house! Also cold frozen winter temps are really bad for my arthritis. Painful locked joints are no fun.
So give this hot blooded woman a sunshiny 85 degree day 24/7/365!!
