Labor Day

Happy Labor Day to all Americans!

Today Monday, September 3rd is Labor Day here in America. It’s a day to honor working people. Some are fortunate to have the day off to spend time with family and friends while many like my former colleagues at the museum must work. I salute all museum security officers and custodial staff who are the face, heart and soul of the museum.

Hats off to Firefighters, police, nurses, hospital staff, retail, restaurant workers and special recognition goes out to the Direct Care Workers who care for my brother Stephen and other adults with Autism and developmental disabilities.

For those of you who live in the United States please contact your elected officials at all government levels to get raises for staff working in Group Home residences. People working at McDonald’s earn more money than the direct care workers who care for my brother Stephen and other adults with Autism. This means that their is often a lack of skilled workers, huge turnover and other situations which you can only imagine.

How and why do we live in a country, the richest country in the world that doesn’t take care of those who need the most help. I suppose since with special needs are unable to vote our government pretty much ignores them.

The two below photos were taken back when Queens had a Special Olympics at St. John’s University. Of course just like the art program that too has gone by the wayside.

Government has no money to fund proper programs and services for developmently disabled people.

Remember as the young man says in the below video, “Normal is a setting on a dryer. “

For those who expect or think that I have the means or resources to take care of Stephen well you are wrong. Part of the reason why I took Early retirement was for health and medical reasons which I will not go into. I refuse to discuss my health problems at all, suffice to say I have my hands full trying to take care of me. Thus my digital diet on discussing personal private aspects of my life. No pity parties. It’s enough to say I barely have resources for myself.

Another reason that I no longer discuss health even with friends I’ve known for over 25years is that such discussions break up friendships or start arguments.

It’s best to keep your problems to yourself if you expect to have any friends. Some people want and expect a Disneyfication of life and that’s what I give them in order to keep the peace. Little do they know or care that the friendship turned around and left out the back door. All they are getting is the facade on the front.

A Lesson I sadly recently learned the hard way. It’s heartbreaking to get into disagreements with those people that you’ve known for years. Losing a friend is losing part of your shared history. Looking back on the fun you once had together is now bittersweet. It hurts to know that I’m a project that needs fixing or repair.

No joy in that.

By the way I am Not a role model. Don’t look up to me as I’m nobody’s inspiration and I don’t want to be.

Always remember that Man proposes. God disposes.

If you live in America you need, you must put pressure on those in political offices to do right by disabled people.

If you’re really on the side of the Working class tomorrow morning get on the phones, send emails, go to their offices. Make some noise.

Anyone who has followed this blog for the past several years already know that I have marched, protested, gone to political rallies and made hundreds of phone calls to help not only my brother Stephen but all in similar circumstances.

Disabled people are a forgotten population until you become disabled.

Programs and services that existed twenty years ago for my brother Stephen and others like him are now gone due to budget cuts.

Speak up now.

The Struggle continues.

I last saw my brother Stephen in May for his birthday. Hopefully September will turn out to be a better month.

I’m believing God for a Better day and a Brighter Future.

The True Illegals

There has been a lot of talk and controversy in the United States about “Illegal Aliens.”  Let’s look at this issue from a different standpoint.  When you think about this topic the true illegals are those that Colonized Africa, The Americas, India, The West Indies aka The Caribbean and Australia.  At what point in history were Europeans invited to steal other people’s lands, destroy their culture and enslave the people already living there?  Never!  Europeans took all these lands by force, forced their religion onto people, brainwashed and subjugated them.  Then to add insult to injury Europeans claimed they “discovered” these countries and continents.  Europeans claimed to bring civilization to these lands!  Obviously nothing could be further from the truth as all colonized countries had their own civilizations which in some cases were much more developed that any in Europe.

Parts of what we now know as the Southwest United States were part of Mexico.  Through Manifest Destiny plus outright greed and violence Europeans annexed these territories in the name of their European God.  When the white man set foot in the Americas they had the Bible and the Indigenous peoples had the land.  Now the white man has the Land the the Indigenous peoples have the Bible along with all the poverty, disease, self-hate and destruction that came with Euro-Centric Christianity.

Entire Native American tribes were given blankets infected with small pox or just plain shot and murdered just so the so-called Settlers could steal their land!  Millions of Africans were stolen from Africa and sold into Slavery to benefit the slave-owners.  Both Native Americans and Africans were stripped of their cultures, religions, way of life because we were deemed to be “savages and heathens.”

Read about the Indian schools established in the 19th & 20th Centuries where Native American children were sent to learn the way of the white man. At least now many Native Americans are returning to their roots including their own religious beliefs. African Americans are looking to Africa and our African belief system as opposed to the white-based Christianity we’ve been spoon fed that said we were the “cursed children of Ham.”

Dear Colonizers, European Imperialists, Evangelicals and Fundamentalists while you worship your white god today at your white church please explain to me how you can do so after pillaging and ruining countless lands where you did not belong?  Stealing resources and murdering peoples whose skin color and religion differed from yours.

How do you justify the KKK, the Christian Right or the Christian Identity Movement and the American Nazi Party?  And the idiot racist, sexist, moron who currently illegally occupies the “White House.”  Guess it really is the white now.  Black people being only 12% of the population you know that we did not vote him in there.  The venom that 45 spews from his gutter, these words in not said in a vacuum.  Most people of color know that what he says is really what many white Americans actually think!

Also why are over 90% of serial killers and mass murderers white men?  People of European descent demonized Muslims, Blacks and Hispanics as lesser races or more violent but even a cursory look at history shows the opposite.  Yes white America look in the mirror and see that the true Illegals look just like you!

Europeans and white Americans spent centuries raping, stealing, pillaging, stealing people and natural resources from all the above mentioned continents then complain that those people whose lands were set to ruin are immigrating to America and Europe. That’s a case of the pot calling the kettle Black.

By the way, I’d happily take mine and Stephen’s financial equivalent of the 40 Acres and a Mule that we were promised after slavery plus the accumulated interest to resettle in a land where we would be welcomed and celebrated.  Lord knows America is not that place.

Encroaching on Santa’s Territory?!

Not so sure about this. I suppose this is mainly for people who live in rural areas. Given all the problems the U.S.A. has I can see the drones being shot down or confiscated by the police or the FBI/CIA.  Also would not this be competition to the United States Postal Service, UPS and Fed Ex??  I suppose the drones could be used in war zones to get humanitarian help to people in distress, illness or having medical emergencies.  Better than Carrier Pigeons but still iffy in my book.

I have a feeling Santa Claus may object and Rudolph #1 Reindeer will be put off!! They might start attacking the drones!!

For all my Followers/Subscribers in The United Kingdom/Great Britain Please share your thoughts.  I want to hear from you!

A guide to debunking ‘black-on-black crime’ and all of its rhetorical cousins

http://fusion.net/story/143613/a-guide-to-debunking-black-on-black-crime-and-all-of-its-rhetorical-cousins/

My mood is still somber. Even with the joy of seeing my brother Stephen on Friday to attend his progress meeting in the back of my mind Stephen even though he has Autism would just be a target to a white cop. A reality that was always there but now has smacked me dead in the face has set into my soul.

For the majority of white America seeing Black Men shot dead in front of their wives and children or watching those children sobbing with grief is just entertainment. They have the option of turning the channel and going on with their lives.

For me it’s personal. It could be my brother. My cousins. My friends. My co-workers. Or it could be me. Remember Sandra Bland.

There is nothing United about these states. No unity whatsoever. Yes we did have that very brief time of unity during 9/11 but as quickly as it came it just as quickly faded away with Black Americans once again being under attack.  For the first time in my life I am ashamed to be an American. Shame and regret that I served in the military for what I thought was my country. Harsh realization that my military service in the U.S. Army from 1977-1981, my Dad’s Air-force service during the Korean war and my Great, Great Grandfathers service during the Civil War was in vain and meant nothing. They were not seen as valid Americans nor am I and especially any of the men in my family.  America reneged on it’s promise.  I actually considered getting my old Army uniform out of storage so I could either burn it or shred it.

I dare say basically to the rest of the world Africa, South America and Europe even with all their problems, America conducts itself as a nation of Barbarians. America. The Shining Example of Democracy?!!

White Americans before you say that All Lives Matter and we are all God’s Children where is the hue cry from white people against innocent Blacks being gunned down or choked by sadistic white cops!! Why aren’t you storming your local police stations and demanding equal treatment for Black people? I see none!! Is that because much of white America sanctions this type of violence?! Or is it the attitude as long as it does not come to my house I’m okay.

Friday attempted dialogue on Facebook with a white female blogger who is a photographer in California. I explained to her that there are no instances that I recall of Black Policemen gunning down innocent white American citizens. Whites have no Murder Roll Call as you see below. Since I had to attend my brother Stephen’s meeting I left the house not knowing what she was putting on my Facebook page. When I returned she had left a litany or ignorant, racist, bigoted, biased comments however one of my Chinese co-workers lowered the boom on her and gave her a verbal tongue lashing and body slam. Not with cursing or foul language but with knowledge, education, and understanding of Black history that was remarkable in one so young! This young Chinese woman was Dropping Jewels on her left and right. Well this white woman never thought she would be challenged especially not by a Chinese woman and she immediately Unfriended me for which I was grateful. I also made sure I Unsubsribed to her blog. Believe me when I see my Chinese co-worker in the locker room on Tuesday I will give her a big hug. She is my Shero!!

Point

In the last ten years think back on all the mass murders committed in the United States. The vast majority committed by crazy angry white men. Now for the most part excluding the ones who killed themselves these madmen were peacefully taken into custody despite that fact that they had just murdered dozens of people. Including the nut who murdered nine Black parishioners in a church!! Not even safe in the House of God!  But again this psycho was arrested so he could be held for trial.

What appalls me is that my generation the Baby Boomers were once on the Vanguard of change, equality, equal rights, & civil rights but some of us have sank back into centuries old paradigms and thinking that race equals value. Meaning one of the white race has more value and rights that one who is Black. This saddens me greatly. On the other hand the Millennials ~~ white, Asian, Hispanic for the most part Get it! They will far surpass the Baby Boomers! The Millennials by working collectively with Black Lives Matter and other civil rights organizations are sounding the Clarion call for Justice.

White America should Donald Trump become president in November and fulfill his promise to Make America White Again. Should he enacted policies to expel or exterminate all Blacks, Browns, non-Christian and/or non-white Immigrants from our shores…..Tell me. Where will you be?

Connection | The Daily Post

Connection

I Love the way 23andMe organized my Maternal Bridge linking me to Africa, Native American ancestry and I have some Irish lineage also! (See below chart)

I’ve always felt a special connection to my African co-workers knowing that I too am from the Motherland but my ancestors having been kidnapped and brought by force to what is now known as America some of that connection was lost. My ancestors lost not only their homeland but their language, culture, religion, (Christianity was forced upon both Africans and Native Americans) and traditions. For me the Connection or Bridges to my Ancestral Lands were partially rebuilt when I had my DNA test done a few years ago.

Through my maternal line most of my ancestors were from Mozambique. I belong to the maternal haplogroup L3e2b1a.  Based on their findings I also probably have some Nigerian ancestors.  Thanks to the advent of computers, the Internet and Blogs in my lifetime I can now connect with many of my African Sisters and Brothers across the globe. Exciting!!

When I pass through the African Art and Egyptian Wings of the museum sometimes I can feel the spirits of the artifacts reaching out to me. I look at items that once had spiritual significance and are now artworks and see my past, present and future. Sometimes I even see my face.

Having Native American Ancestry from both my mothers and fathers sides I’ve always felt a deep spiritual connection to Native Americans, the traditions and the belief systems.

So I have the bloods of African, Native American and Irish Queens running through my veins but as the end result says on the below Ancestry Composition I am 100% DeBorah Ann Palmer.
