Actually I had two favorite subjects. English and History or back then it was called Current Events.

If you could have a servant come to your house every day for two hours, what would you have them do?

My Laundry!!

Where did you live when you were in the third grade of school?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

Third Grade. I would have been age 9. I Lived on 115th Road in St. Albans, Queens, NY. I no longer live there. Now I Live in Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY. The below photo taken March 1964 is Stephen and I sitting on the stoop of our home. I was 5 Stephen would have been 3.

Fulton Street Brooklyn New York

Lord & Taylor located near 37th or 38th Streets on Fifth Avenue.

Actually there are many funky, fun, fascinating places to shop in New York but those are the once that come to mind immediately.

What are you really glad you did yesterday?

Sleep. I was really tired.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

One floor level house. I have arthritis and it is getting more difficult for me to go up and down stairs.

Have you done something you truly want to do today?

Well, Let’s see. I’d like to win Lotto or Mega Millions but I don’t bet!! LOL!! Basically I just do chores on my day off and Monday is my day off. Laundry. Grocery shopping. Adulting 101.  You don’t do the things you want to do but the things you have to do at least until you retire. Ask me again in about 2 or 3 years when I will be retired and hopefully I will have a different answer.

What plans did you have as a teenager that didn’t happen? Are you happy it didn’t work out that way?

I suppose like most Women born in the 1950s/60s I thought I would eventually settle down and get married. Then after that phase passed I dreamed of being an artist. I really Loved drawing and sketching. My latter career dream was to be a writer.

Yes. I’m glad I never married. I have a difficult headstrong stubborn personality and am not easy to get along with. My one foray into common-law marriage was a disaster. He was abusive and I was losing myself in him. Everything was his way of the highway, verbal, emotionally and psychological abuse. If it had been a legal marriage I might have been trapped in hell still. But I survived. Made something out of my Life without a man!! Power!! Got through and beyond the abuse. Life goes on.

As for being an artist well I work as a museum guard. That’s as close as I’m gonna get to that!  I am a writer and one day God willing I will be a published author however I’m not holding my breath and it does not worry me. As I’ve gotten older I now realize that Life does not always work out the way we want it to. Roll with the punches.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Grateful that I made it through a harrowing work week. Looking forward to an extended Halloween weekend.  I have this upcoming Saturday off. That means I’ll be off Saturday, Sunday & Monday!!  Party time and best of all Stephen time!!  I will be posting Costumes next week!!

Do you believe in love at first sight?

No.

Your first car?

1985 Chevy Cavalier

Who taught you to ride a bike? How did it go?

My parents. Can’t remember whether it was my Mom or Dad. Probably both. As long as the training wheels were on I was fine. The real challenge came when Daddy took the training wheels off. Lots of falling down and crashing into trees. At one point after running smack into a tree I came inside the house crying to my Mother. She made me go back outside, get back on the bike and told me told come back in the house until I learned to ride. Needless to say I learned Right, Quick & in a hurry!!

Ugly and rich or beautiful and poor?

Neither.  I don’t like those choices. I’d rather be beautiful and rich. However if forced to choose beautiful and poor because you can always work your way up the ladder. Maybe I’d meet the hidden Prince Charming!! Ha!!  LOL!!  🙂   😀

What was the first dish you could cook?

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese!  Fortunately once I moved into my own apartment when I was in my 30s I had to learn to cook more than just box Mac & Cheese!!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Glad to have made it through a rough week. Looking forward to the weekend!!

Why did you start blogging?

To gain exposure for my writing and photography as well as to engage with those of similar interests. Also to inspire, uplift and encourage people worldwide.

A piece of clothing you still remember?

An Asian dress that fitted me like a glove. It looked like I was poured into the dress. Was like having a second skin. Also helped that at that time I was in my 20s so I looked a whole lot better than I do now! Something similar to the one shown below.

Who are you trying to reach with your blog?

Folks with an interest in writing especially poetry plus short stories, commentary and photography. My Photography Blog is Roaming Urban Gypsy.

Those who like to engage in enlightened intellectual discussion and people with a sense of humor.

Is there a stuffed animal in your bedroom?

SpongeBob Squarepants. Oh wait! He is not animal or is he?  Not sure whether a sponge is considered an animal or not?!  As for the rest of my stuffed animals they are downstairs boxed up because if I put all of them on my bed my cat Sylvester and I wouldn’t have any room to sleep! LOL!

The best birthday present ever?

The Gift of another Year of Life.

What would surprise me about you?

“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”

William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

The Following Magnificent Email Message from my brother Stephen who is an Amazing Awesome Autism Guy!!

Hi sister how are you doing today . I had a good day at program today , I draw and colored with my peers, I also helped with the paper work in the class room . After i went to lunch, it was good i really enjoyed lunch time with my friends. I wanted to know if you still have the drawing of the picture i made.

As Always I’m Grateful to Cee Neuner for Her Wonderful Photography Challenges!  I too have some old paternal family photos some dating back to right after the Civil War.  I will share those in my next post.  When I was living in Rochdale Village, Jamaica, Queens I had a combination printer/copier/Scanner so I scanned as many of my family photos as possible.

A class you wish you would have taken?

Photography. And more Art classes. However I did get to take a Cinematography class in High School which was lots of fun!

What’s your favorite comic figure and why?

When I was a kid I Loved Charlie Brown because I could relate to him. Both of us had constant bad luck, were total screw-ups and Beagles for pets.

Name something you wish you could like.

Math. I really loathe and despise math. Never made any sense to me. Numbers are confusing and I was always getting failing grades in school. Algebra and geometry make my head spin!!

Tell me about your first crush / first date / first kiss.

I thought I was in Love with Paul McCartney of the Beatles. Later on Freddie Prinze from Chico and the Man.

Boy named Phillip. He was a sloppy kisser. Yuck! Glad that he was older than me so went off to college and I never saw him again.

Who was your best friend when you were 10?

Can’t remember back that far. Maybe it was Dora Wilson who eventually had to get a shot-gun wedding. Last I heard she was in Alaska. Or it could have been Jackie who was a foster child. Sadly she wound up in an insane asylum.

What sign are you?

Pisces.

Do you believe in astrology?

To a Degree.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Vacation. Had a chance to rest, relax and do all the things I can’t do when I’m working. Today is the last day of my vacation. Back to work tomorrow. Ugh! With my job I only look forward to the weekends when I’m NOT at the workplace.
