If you were given $22 million tax free dollars (any currency), what is the first thing you would do? (This is just a dream question, remember anything can happen in SYW.)
QUIT MY JOB!!
Finally get a place of my own. A small one story house (No stairs) with a front and back yards. And at least 3 Full Bathrooms! In My Dream House I would have my Own Large roomy art/writing studio. My art studio would be big enough for me to have my own personal Art Show! I would also adopt more cats and dogs.
Stephen and I plus a care giver/helper would take a month long vacation to the Caribbean! In fact I would move out of New York during the winter months to Florida, Hawaii or California as my body cannot handle Cold freezing NY winters.
Also I’d have my own personal Limo Drivers since I cannot drive and if I were to move to a more rural location with no transportation that would be the only way for me to get around.
In what do you find the simplest of joys?
Spending time with my brother Stephen and being outdoors during warm weather in Nature.
What would be your ideal birthday present, and why?
Since I was born in February when it is freezing cold in New York if somebody would give me a month long or even two weeks in Hawaii that would be a Blessing! Folks My 60th Birthday is coming up February 2019 so Feel Free to purchase a round trip ticket for me! Thanks in Advance!!
Do you use paper money? If so is your money organized sequentially according to denomination?
Yes. I live in a poor working class neighborhood where many of the stores don’t take cards, credit or debit. Even the Metro Card machines where you purchase your Metro Card to ride the bus/subway sometimes don’t take cards. Cash rules. Therefore I always have paper money but not organized.
Are You comfortable doing nothing? For long stretches of time?
This is my retirement Theme Song because by the time I’m 60 which is next year I will be retired!! I believe the song answers the question. Doing nothing will be my new way of life!! I’ve been working since 1976 so it’s about time to do nothing or anything I want to do!
What is your greatest strength?
Toughness and endurance.
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week? Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.
The Cherry Blossoms
My Latest Most Recent Painting. It does not yet have a name. I’m open to suggestions. Please give me your thoughts on what I should call this painting!
I was trying to get it more like the experienced artist in the below video but mine did not come out like his. However I enjoyed painting outside in our backyard in this balmy 71 degree warm weather! Fun!
Here are two collages that I’m working on at the moment. These might be more abstract surrealist paintings than collages but I will still incorporate some picture/photo elements into each.
Right now they are unfinished but I’m not in any hurry. It is just a pleasure and a great deal of fun to work on them. Not really work at all but a creative and enjoyable activity that is relaxing and fun. Very therapeutic.
Allows plenty of room to experiment and just try different painting hacks. Makes me happy to have something in the pipeline. Another way to express my creativity by combining two hobbies that I Love; photography and collages.

Getting Ready to Go for a Ride!
DreamScape Kaleidoscope Cymbals
This one is 98% finished. I might add a few more elements. If something else is needed the artwork will tell me.
This is what I’m doing on this cold, rainy, snowy freezing day while I’m on vacation. As you can see my efforts have not reached the level of Mr. Darrell Crow. I’ve been listening to Mr. Crow’s videos for just a little while so I decided to attempt a waterfall. Mine looks like something out of an abstract avant garde surrealist expressionist nightmare!
My Splash is more like a KerPlunk! My waterfall will never be mistaken for Niagara Falls! 😀😁😂🤣😃😄😅😆😉😎🤓🤔 I shall not add the rocks as mine would look like the Loch Ness monster arising from the depths! LOL!!
Plus I do not have a Fan brush but my room-mate has generously granted me use of his brushes so I tried spreading on the bristles on one of the wider brushes. My Palette is an old paper plate. Talk about improvising! I do have my handy dandy spray bottle.
However sparkles and glitter cover a multitude of errors!
Mr. Crow has Painting Series on both Acrylics and Oils. I have Oil paints but they take way too long to dry. I prefer Acrylics. I will keep working on this painting however I don’t want to use up all my canvasses as I need to save some for when Stephen arrives for his 57th Birthday Celebration in May. I’m sure Stephen has got to be better at this than poor sister! Ha! Ha!
Anyway feel free to laugh at mine and enjoy the expertise and country humor of Mr. Darrell Crow.
Back to the Drawing Board. Literally!
Presenting the Magical Mystical Seaside Seascapes!! A Masterpiece in Progress!!
Last year 2017 I participated in the Employee Art Show and I was also able have one of my Photography Collages on display at the Daily Press a Coffee shop across the street from my house.
This year the Museum Union Employees are having their own Art Show that is separate from the museum. I’m a proud Union member of DC 37 Local 1503. The Union Art Show will take place in March. I have already registered and completed my Mixed Media Photo Collage.
After working for the museum for ten Yes 10 years I’ve been heavily influenced by the various special exhibits as well as the permanent collection.
Over the years I’ve spent many hours standing in the Modern Art galleries of the Main Bldg and since 2016 been on Night Shift in the Modern and Contemporary Art museum. Same museum in a different location.
Thus I’ve spent lots of time gazing at Jackson Pollack drip paintings. Like many people at first I discounted Jackson Pollacks drip painting methods but over time his methods began to intrigue me motivating me to incorporate his technique into my photography.
Not having a great deal of space in my house instead of dripping paint I drip nail polish or what some call Lacquer. I really enjoyed the process however my Masterpiece is now drying in the backyard due to the awful smell of nail polish. My cat Sylvester even left the bedroom electing to sit in the hallway watching me.
(For those of you who have no idea who is Jackson Pollack I have included two videos of him in Creative Action.)
Funny that right around the time I saw the flyer for the Union Art Show I saw the head curator for the photography department. Every time I see him he has always encouraged in my endeavors. Two other curators have also encouraged me.
God wants me to move forward with my Photography Blog Roaming Urban Gypsy as well as to expand my outreach in terms of creating and submitting more photos throughout New York city. Therefore I’m stepping up my game for 2018.
Here is a Sneak peek at my Photography Collage submission from inception to completion.
The Name of my submission is Broadway Junction en Lacquer.
