The song is aparodythat complains about the fictional “Camp Granada” and is set to the tune ofAmilcare Ponchielli‘s “Dance of the Hours“. The name derives from the first lines:

Autism ‘awareness’ is not enough

Understand. Accept. Embrace.

Laina Eartharcher's avatarthe silent wave

Welcome to the 2017 edition of Autism “Awareness” Month (heh).  This month, I will probably reveal my Activist Face a bit <grin>.  I’ll try to keep The Feisty to a minimum, and logic and bride-building at the control panel, although there may be times when I get a little…impassioned. 🙂

…Especially when talking about Autism “awareness” Month, and Autism “awareness” itself.

All over the globe, various people will parrot these words, probably hundreds of thousands of times over.  But I dare say that they probably don’t know what they’re really talking about.  The vast majority of them may not realize that they’re missing the point.

April is often a time of depression for those of us on the Asperger’s/autism spectrum, for these very reasons.  Because “awareness” is not trueAwareness.  The way in which this “awareness” is carried out can be detrimental to our wellbeing, for we are constantly…

Share Your World: Ribbonrx Edition: April 3, 2017

For those of you who are missing out on Share Your World, Ribbonr.com has come up with some questions for this week. Feel free to play along. You can add your answers below my reblog.

What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?

I would like to return to live human interaction whenever I must call for customer service. I’m tired of machine voices telling me Press 1 for This or Press 2 for That. Let’s bring back Living Operators/Customer Service Agents.

What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?

Suspense/Thrillers/Mysteries ~~ Sometimes Ghost or Horror stories. The Others with Nichole Kidman was a great movie as was the film Shelter Island with Leonardo DiCaprio. Also The Sixth Sense. Any book by Anne Rice or Stephen King. Anne Rice stands out as #1 for me.

How often do you people watch?

All the time as a Museum Security Guard that’s what I get paid to do. Especially when I worked days. You’d be surprised at how many adults, yes grown ass people either touch or attempt to touch the artworks!  Go figure!!  Since I started working nights last year that problem does not arise as the visitors are on their way home when my shift begins.

What have you only recently formed an opinion about?

That Benadryl and Nivea are the best thing for allergies even skin rash allergies.

That the Dominican guard who is around my age maybe younger is rather handsome. He is also a nice guy with funny jokes.  Don’t get alarmed peoples!! We are just friends.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last Week was rough so I’m glad that it is over. Looking forward to Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week.

Those of you old enough (50+) will get the reference with this record and one of my above answers.
