We are Chosen

The Red King and Queen for Halloween 2018 were Chosen to represent Queens Centers for Progress in Celebration of Halloween!

Check out our photo on Instagram.

Please support Queens Centers for Progress in their mission of providing services and programs for People with autism and other developmental disabilities.

I always put my money where my mouth is and out of my limited resources provided as many Halloween costumes as I could afford for the residents of QCP BELLEROSE in Queens where Stephen resides. I was only able to buy two or three extra Halloween costumes but I know that those residents will be filled with joy for today. Stephen has lived there since 1989. Stephen was blessed to come from a loving home but many of the residents came from institutions. Many have no family or friends to give them gifts for any holidays.

Hanukkah and Christmas will be here before you know it. Please donate money, new clothing, GAMES, or toys to organizations like Queens Centers for Progress and AABR.

Thanks.

CHRISTMAS WRITING PROMPT #12: FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY

writing-prompt-xmas-special-12-fav-xmas-memory

Yesterday my workplace had a Holiday Party. Even though I was on duty I was able to make it upstairs and partake of some of the food and drink plus socialize with my co-workers. A great time was had by all.  The first photo is when everything was being set-up by the time I returned during my second break for the evening the table was loaded down with food. Everybody brought something. I contributed some cookies.  Since we have such a diverse staff there were culinary treats from all cultures and traditions.

Yule Log Memories

There was a video of a Yule Log which I uploaded to YouTube. Hope you are able to view my video. You can hear the chatter of my co-workers plus I added some music. Weird overlap. The burning Yule Log brought back memories because years ago on Channel 11 WPIX every Christmas they played the Yule Log in the fireplace with various Christmas songs being played. My mother used to sit in the dark with our Christmas Tree Lights twinkling away just looking at the burning but never consumed Yule Log. I guess she needed time to think.

Or maybe she was recalling Long past Christmases of her youth back in the 1930s and 40s.

Much like me her daughter.

This is the Original old time WPIX Yule Log which is much better than my video. All you Native New Yorkers will remember this!

Buy Black Friday

#SoulfulStrut   #BuyBlackFriday

Thoughts on the Craziness and Greed of Black Friday

BUY BLACK FRIDAY!!!! Stephen went with me on today’s Soulful Strut. Usually his residence over packs with too much clothing however this time they under packed requiring me to buy him extra clothes. Ever determined to support Black merchants, store-owners and entrepreneurs I was able to buy Stephen some much needed items from Black-owned stores located on Fulton Street and Marcus Garvey. My African people Please patronize these stores so that all Peoples of African descent can better our economic development in America. We Must Support Our Own People. Every other ethnic group does this and that allows them to rise financially as the dollars circulate within our community and our neighborhoods are improved. Thank you!

Yes most of us are all shopping for our respective Holidays, Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa but make buying easy on yourself. Why not make Black Friday, Cyber Friday and extend to Cyber Monday. Avoid the crowds and the hassles plus still get the deals. Since most folks have PCs, Laptops and/or Tablets you can buy gifts in the comfort of your home without fighting the greedy hordes.  Just Saying……….

Black Friday = Broke Friday. If you must make purchases today please support your local small businesses and merchants.

My Sisters and Brothers of African descent BUY BLACK!!

So we can either #BoycottBlackFriday or make it work for us and #BuyBlack
