curlBox unveils the nude issue

I love the idea of tasteful nude photos showcasing “real women with real bodies”! The Body Beautiful is not just one specific size or shape. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. This is a wonderful idea. I would have loved to participate in this project because I’ve been thinking a lot lately of how Women over 50 disappear from the public discourse and suddenly become non-sexual beings. I have a vested interest in that dialogue since I will turn 55 on Feb. 27, 2014. Ladies Look me up because I’m ready for my Nude close-up showing how 50+ Women are Fifty Fabulous!

From In Her Shoes Blog

As the Chief Experience Officer of curlBOX and one of THE flyest female entrepreneurs I know, Myleik Teele is constantly pushing the creative envelope and encouraging women of color to truly embrace their natural beauty. Let it be known, curlBOX is not just about hair, it’s a lifestyle. In what I consider to be her boldest move yet, Myleik made an otherwise mundane Tuesday afternoon a steamy one as she began unveiling photos from her recent NYC curlBOX shoot on Instagram. Imagine scrolling through and suddenly seeing this gorgeous image of a tastefully nude Myleik pop up on your screen! With skin as smooth and silky as fine chocolate, Myleik single-handedly shows us exactly what self-love and confidence looks like.

Each year, the September issues of fashion magazines present the most highly-anticipated release of new products and stunning photography for fashionistas around the globe. curlBOX…

“Please Join Me In Fighting *STIGMA*~ For People with Mental Illness & in Addiction Recovery”

Please donate today. This is a worthy cause. Often mental illness is the hidden illness. Hidden because on the surface we appear well but underneath are suffering and hidden because you don’t want or can’t explain to others exactly what is wrong or that it is a valid and disabling disease. Thank you.

Some years,

September exits in a swish of scarlet, and

October dawns dappled in gold.

But this year,

October is opulent in shimmering emerald velvet.

Forests hold back their  adornment.

The morning whispers on wisps of fog beyond

“I will wait.”

All around the lake, summer aches for more time,

grips tight to verdant hues,

and as October embraces green

its ochre arms

bide

the firey glory

of autumn.

Honest Truth

thevanbrown's avatarVan Brown's Journal

Just this past year, I’ve seen an almost uncountable number of tweets, blogposts, and other status updates on various social media urging people to give to animal shelters, and to adopt cats and dogs that would be otherwise doomed.  The general public expectation is that many will respond to this outcry.  Also, we are advised not to feed stray animals unless we intend to continue it and take responsibility for them.  Yet when it comes to human beings in dire circumstance, it is not thinkable that when the service ends around noon that all those with the wherewithal to do so will go find someone in need to join them at their table. But here is a thought:

Last year the Gross National Income of the United States of America approached 16 trillion dollars.  One half of one percent (a negligible tax perhaps?) would be about 80 billion dollars.  That…
