In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Bedtime Stories.”
What was your favorite book as a child? Did it influence the person you are now?
My favorite book as a child was Pippi Longstocking by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. I read the books over and over. She amused and amazed me with her superhuman strength and that she lived on her own. No parents!! Pippi was extremely self sufficient and did not suffer fools gladly. Also similar to Pippi my best friends were my various pets, dogs in my case. Pippi Longstocking and I both love animals and hate to see them hurt or mistreated.
Like Pippi I am very strong willed. My father always told me I was hard headed and stubborn but having a tough exterior and soft interior has served me well as an adult. I do not have the physical strength of Pippi but I have an inner strength that has gotten me through some very hard times and continues to do so. Read all the books as a child but never saw any of the movies.
