Jubilant

Rejoice! It’s the end of the week, and time for a celebratory photo challenge.

Psalm 96:12-13

New International Version (NIV)

12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
13 Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Philippians 4:4

King James Version (KJV)

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2016 WEEK 19

With your answers, please remember we are in the SYW world and which may not always match our reality.

  1. You win a pet monkey but this isn’t just any old monkey. It can do one trick for you whenever you want from getting a pop out of the fridge to washing your hair. What would be the trick?

Go find that dork Donald Trump or the Koch Brothers get their money and redistribute it to the poor, needy, disabled, homeless, Veterans and Oh Yes while we’re at it Give me the monetary equivalent of my 40 Acres and a Mule.  Hmmm… maybe while they digging into The Donald’s bank account I would get the monkey to rip that sorry-ass dead animal weave off his noggin!! LOL!!

  1. What caring thing are you going to do for yourself today?

Got my eyebrows and upper lip waxed. Love the magnificent artist Frida Kahlo but no need for a Unibrow.  Took advantage of today’s good weather and did a Soulful Strut along Fulton Street in Brooklyn.

  1. What color do you feel most comfortable wearing?

Purple.  Red and Blue also.

  1. Complete this sentence:  When I travel I love to….  eat and take photos!!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my vacation even though it rained the entire time except for today which is the last day. However I’m also grateful I was at home as opposed to work because the museum gets extremely crowded during inclement weather. It’s like being invaded by locusts!  Also grateful for the opportunity to celebrate my brother Stephen’s 55th Birthday!!  Hooray!! Went to see the Special Dinosaur Exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History.   We also made progress on the Sibling Art Collage that we are collaborating on.

Looking forward to getting together with a guy I met yesterday at my room-mate’s dinner party. Since I work for a New York museum I can get into all other NYC museums for Free. Since we both have an interest in art, photography, museums, Buddhism, etc… we made an immediate connection.

Also this African-American Scottish Brother is easy on the eyes with a great sense of humor. As you can see I’m getting slightly giddy as though I was 17 instead of 57 but I’m ready for some romance. But let’s not put the care ahead of the horse. Right now Mr. African Scotland Yard seems like a great hang-out partner. Hopefully the weather will be in the 70s and sunny with no rain like the past week.  Fingers crossed!

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2016 WEEK 17

With your answers, please remember we are in the SYW world and which may not always match our reality.

When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

In my notebooks which are always with me I use a pen.

What’s your choice: jigsaw, word, maze or numeric puzzles?

I used to do many words puzzles like Find A Word. Don’t do it anymore because it is too difficult for me to see properly. As a child I Loved Jigsaw puzzles. I would do those again if I had time. No maze or numeric for me. Too much for my number challenged brain to figure out. Some of my co-workers are hooked on Sudoku.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

Right now I’m wearing a medium Afro. I prefer Long Hair but not the work entail in keeping it presentable.  Here are some of my various hairstyles over my 57 years. From traditional plaits, the terror of the straightening comb (If you’re a Black Woman over 40 you know what I mean), 70s Afro, Jheri Curls, Dred Locs.

List five some of your favorite blogs.

I know that this is more than five but I wanted to showcase at least eight of my favorites. I Love supporting and encouraging others!!  ❤

The Right to Vote. Tuesday I Voted for Bernie Sanders in the New York primaries. He did not win but I’m glad I’m able to Vote and I exercise that right every chance I get. Looking forward to next week because I will be on Vacation and it will be my brother Stephen’s 55th Birthday Celebration!!  Woohoo!! Cheers!! Hands Clapping!!

Papa Loves Mambo

What sort of music was played in your house when you were growing up? What effect, (if any) did it have on your musical tastes?

Will There be Lindy Hopping in Heaven?

Silently. Quietly. Watching the records drop down, spin and play on the Victrola my mother Mable Palmer pondered many things. Things she kept close to her in a broken and torn heart. Blame. Hurt. Guilt.

Big Bands blasting out hits from times gone by. Long past. Sometimes happy and carefree. Sometimes the reality of Jim Crow, lynchings, separate but equal……

Sam Cooke. The Temptations. The Four Tops.

Sam Cooke — Change Gon’ Come

Civil Rights Movement. Malcolm X. Dr. Martin Luther King. Two Kennedys shot down.

Suddenly a Savior. Tall lanky Black Man from New York. Husband material. First met. Wilberforce AFB. The Bells rang at Carillon Park. Dayton Woman. Harlem man. Suave. Sophisticate. New Life. Bright Lights. Big City. The Bronx. Baseball Yankees. Baby Girl. Two years pass. Baby boy joy. Need more space. Queens move. Something’s wrong. Something’s not right with our Prince. Two years old and still no voice. Doctors. No answers. Whispers. Not so secret. What did she do wrong? Was it the tea she drank during her pregnancy? What did she do to make him “that way.”

Untold suffering. Lord I Love my child. Why is he this way? Why does he scream nonstop? Why does everyone blame me? Sorrow. Pain. Agony.  Doing my best.

Years pass. Mother ~~ A broken sparrow fallen to the ground. But my son. He shines. My daughter a Redeemer arisen. My children. My joy. Now go I to my eternal rest. My Angels shall live on after me. For now there is Lindy Hopping in Heaven.

Proverbs 31:10-31

King James Version (KJV)

10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.

19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth theLord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
