SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #31

Would you rather take pictures or be in pictures?

I would rather take pictures than be in them. As I get older I have begun to lose fascination with my own image that I see in the Selfie obsessed Millennials.  When I was a teenager back in the 70s my girlfriend and I would spend hours taking funny face photos in the Woolworth’s photo booths. If I remember correctly one could get four pictures for a quarter. Or was it a dollar? Now I avoid mirrors and cameras unless I’m at a special event of some sort.

Where do you like to vacation?

I prefer the seaside, the beach anywhere near the ocean if I get the chance. However I usually wind up taking Staycations within New York City but maybe in my next scheduled September and October vacations I can get out to Coney Island or Jones Beach.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I’m grateful that I was able to attend two farewell functions for two young co-workers who are moving onto bigger and better things. Looking forward this week to continuing with my health diet and improving my over all well-being.

Dead Can Dance – The Host of Seraphim

I must return to the Savannahs of the Motherland from whence I was birthed eons ago.

Big cats all around me.

Sleep easy.

Sleep easy.

Bones buried in sand dunes.

Spirit soars.

Vermillion

Vermillion

Minions Blood dice
Minions Blood dice

Chasuble and Chalice
Shall hold forth no malice
until that great day when the dragon lies
slain by his excellent silver sword.

Cries for help often go unanswered
condemning lost souls to the noisy desperation of
unmarked graves.

T’is useless to summon the gods of war
as other battles take precedence

Yours is a wailing that echoes throughout time
over the crooks and valleys of a deserted land
waiting for a legion that shall never arrive

Prisoners paraded boils and pockmarked stigmata
marching towards the land of Shades
Neither in this world or fully in the next one.

Twilight evermore………………

I fell upon my sweet sweet sword when I heard the dirge
emerge.

Once I was a Queen my brilliant vivid ruby red velvet purple blue
robes now tattered with scorn…

Now Empress of the dung heap. A loathsome swollen twisted
disfigured mass of fuming flesh aching for renewal while
another round of spittle hits the mark

Badly mangled I creep towards a salvation always just out of reach.

Crimson runs rampant along it’s craggy shores.

Yaa Asantewaa Breaks the Sky and Bursts the Oceans

When the Sky Erupts…

When the sky erupts spewing stars like spores upon the heavenly tiers. The seas break forth and separate giving up the noble dead. For the people flew forth to Atlantis each speaking their own tongue. Return to the Mother Land.  Mother Africa! The Amistad has landed.

Amistad

I see stitches where the blood has come undone. Skin graffiti. Splotches of blood drops dripping rippling sperm impregnating the earth giving life to dry bones. If crimson be the elixir of life then I shall populate new beings for my Mother. I see my arteries and veins crisscrossing the land. The extent of my DNA lives in all peoples. The Ashanti Empire has been regained and reigns once more.

All Hail Mother Yaa Asantewaa Queen Mother of the Rebel Forces!

Ancestral Memories & Captured Moments

Ancestral Memories

Family Photographs dating from the 19th to 21st Centuries. My paternal Grandmother Eva Gordon Palmer labeled the older photos.  The photos from the 19th Century were all taken in Photography studios located in New York City where my Great Great Grandmother settled with her five children after my Great Great Grandfather William Henry Halstead passed away.  William Henry Halstead served in the Civil War as part of the 29th Ct. Colored Regiment.  Please click on the below links for more information on him and his unit.

My Paternal Grandparents Eva and William Palmer married in Jan. 1919 and had several children. All the boys passed away from polio except my Dad Edward G. Palmer. His nickname was Precious.  They had three daughters Helen Louise Palmer Garcia, Thelma Rosalie Palmer Varner and Eva Palmer Stuppard.

All the people pictured except me and my brother Stephen have gone onto Glory and are Living their Heavenly reward.
