  1. As a conservative I have major problems with both parties. We have brilliant leaders but somehow we get painted into a corner every time. Conservatives and cutting food stamps and SS. Both parties are million and billionaires and when they are working all they do fillibuster. Dems using immigrants for votes and still haven’t helped AA become more self-empowered. They can vote on a gold medal but only name streets and not fix the streets. Am I missing something here?

    1. Yes it is all a big logjam where nothing gets done and the problems get worse. I worry about social security because in a few years I will be in my 60s and I have a brother who has Autism so I just want to get out what I’ve paid in since I was 17 years old and I want my brother and other developmentally disabled people taken care of. I don’t know why Social Security, SSI & SSD are seen as entitlements. Most of us do pay into social security and as for the other two you never know what will happen to you as you get older. Disability can happen to anyone and at anytime. As a Veteran, (I served in the U.S. Army from 1977 to 1981) what can I rely on in my future? Will my golden years be truly golden? What if I have another stroke. Had one when I was 49 but mostly recover. Sadly our government kicks Veterans, the Elderly and the disabled to the curb. Well that’s my vent but hopefully sharing this information will wake us up as citizens so we are not so apathetic. Thanks for your comments!

      1. I was in about that time too. 1974-1985. We have good people, why do we get the bad. As a veteran I was people first and you get the idea that no one cares after one serves. At President Bush waits at the airports even today with no press. I think these politicians need to do this a lot more. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE AND GOD BLESS.

      2. Well in some small way we all must be more vocal. My way is through my blog and sharing other folks blogs. We don’t always have to agree but at least what others are doing or not doing will make us think then take action. Around March 2013 I and my brother went to Albany to protest the Gov.’s budget cuts. Later I along with 1500 others abled and disabled march in front of the Gov. Cuomo’s NYC offices. That was the first time I ever marched or protested in my life but my brother’s care was at stake so I had to do it. See my post: https://dancingpalmtrees.com/2013/03/16/we-are-the-6/

I felt empowered and we made our voices heard. Small vocal peaceful efforts do yield fruit. We must not give up. Thank you for your service and may God richly bless you!! 🙂 Very glad for your input! 🙂
